Go Dallas!! I just barfed a little writing that. Dallas at home against the Packers would be a great game. If the Packers host the Giants the Packers will go to the Super Bowl and I live way to close to Wisconsin to want to experience that,,,again.

I read an article published by the Telegraph that had this opening line. "Gordon Brown has thrown his weight behind a move to allow hospitals to take organs from dead patients without explicit consent." (Read the full article here:
I guess I have a mixed reaction to the idea of presumed consent regarding harvesting human organs and tissue. There is a terrible shortage of donor organs available for transplant and society would benefit if the shortage were to be relieved. On the other hand, who actually "owns" the organs? The person or the State? If they belong to the person, then wouldn't "presumed consent" actually be a form of government seizure of property? Given that human organs do have monetary value, would the estate of the deceased be compensated for the seizure in a similar way that a property owner is compensated when property is seized through eminent domain? Would compensation for organs lead to the sale of organs?
While I think donation is a wonderful gift, my personal goal is to wear my organs out to the point that no one would want them.

Isn't Dec 30th the day when the elders put on their dark robes and lead the congregation in ritual sin? Ring any bells? Then they sacrifice a new born to the real true god Baal? Its been a long time since I went to a hall. Am I remembering this correctly? Or maybe the CO was in town.

Thanks for your insight, jgnat. I've learned over the years that going slow with the kids is a pretty good approach. One difference this time is that the father is still hoping to reconcile with the mom (not gonna happen according to her) and he keeps telling the boys that "Mom will come to her senses and we'll all be together again" which the kids, of course, are really keen on. I'm pretty sure when the father finds out his ex is seeing someone there won't be a lot of positive reinforcement coming from his direction. The next few months will be interesting.

I've been seeing a single mom for a while. She has three children. I've met her oldest son. He's in his 20's and married. A really nice kid and we get along great. Her youngest two, both boys, are 7 and 5 and she splits custody with their father every other week. She wanted me to meet them earlier this fall but I thought it was best to hold off on meeting the kids until after the holidays as this was the first holiday season for the kids with mom in one place and dad in another. My reasoning was that there would be enough stress in everyone's lives with dueling parents that there was no need to add me to the mix. I also thought that she and I should get to know each other better beforehand. I've dated single moms in the past who thought nothing of bringing a new guy around the kids every other month and don't want to be part of that again.
Anyway, the holidays are over. I have a couple of ideas about how I'd like to meet the kids. The kids are not oblivious to the fact that their mom is seeing someone. Kids know what's going on. She hasn't hid anything from them and they know my name and a few other things about me. Personally I think that when the kids insist on meeting me then we should meet. Not when mom or I think the time is right. I'd rather have it be their idea. In the end mom will have the final say I suppose.
I'm not really looking for advice right now. Just curious about different experiences some of you have had.

It saddens me to no end when I go visit my 80ish parents. They are still working. Not as hard as they used to because they are old which is turning into a vicious cycle. Getting old, can't work as much, less money coming in, standard of living erodes a bit, etc. But they make it to all the meetings and crap.
On the other hand my sister, who dropped out of the witness scene years ago, saved her entire working life for retirement. She'll be done working in a couple of years in her mid 50's. I'm hoping to follow her example also.

No wonder 5,000 hours are spent in service for every baptism. You people are a bunch of slackers. Keep up the good work.

In my mind I still want to ride where ever for thousands of miles. I want to see whats over that hill. I want to see what or who is around that curve. In my mind there are things I want to do. My body...tomorrow I go for an exam as my heart has developed a hic-cough of some sort. The doc calls it an atrial flutter. Sounds friendly enough but it does suck getting old.
